Camagüey, Apr 19.- More than 1,700 samples from the province of Camagüey have been analyzed in national reference laboratories, corresponding to the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) molecular biology test, used to identify cases positive for the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

According to the national part issued by the Ministry of Public Health, in Camagüey a new positive case was reported for the new coronavirus in the provincial capital, for a cumulative of 33 confirmed.
In the territory, the largest in Cuba, more than five thousand five hundred rapid response tests for the disease have been carried out, with high sensitivity and specificity, not used as a definitive diagnostic method, but which they guide, Reynaldo Pons reported to the press. These kits have been targeted at highly vulnerable population groups such as nursing homes, isolation areas, and people admitted to hospitals, not with the disease caused by the new coronavirus, but with Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI).
In an appearance on a local radio-television program for citizen participation, Dr. Pons commented that in the Buenos Aires Popular Council -Bella Vista -in the north of this city and where the largest number of cases are reported-, these rapid tests are also carried out, and today the PCRs are done to all the people who are pending.
He recalled that, as part of the reinforced epidemiological surveillance measures, 63 blocks are intervened there, although actions are intensified more in the seven where the bulk of the suspects are still to be studied and awaiting the results.
Tasks to a lesser extent are also carried out in two other areas, in the Alturas del Cerro district, of the Agramonte - Simoni Popular Council, and in the Porvenir division, of Previsora, in which it is important to increase the limitation of the movement of the population and the inquiries.
In the municipality of Florida, the Argentine People's Council, with an event of local transmission of five patients, continues in quarantine in order to observe whether new cases arise according to the time of incubation of the virus, although the chain of transmission has already been fully studied and it currently has an epidemiological closure, he stressed.
The doctor stressed the importance of active research that is carried out in the communities, with the participation of students of Medical Sciences and other workers in the sector, as this method is known of the evolution of more than 500 people with ARI , and has allowed the lifting of more than 20 Covid-19 suspects.
