Camagüey, Aug 27.- The University of Camagüey (UC) "Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz" will begin teaching activities on September 1 with the mission of complying with the calendar approved by the Cuban Ministry of Higher Education, to carry out three academic periods from September 2020 to July 2021: culmination of the 2019-2020 course and the development from November of the 2020-2021 course semesters.
Given the epidemiological situation facing the country due to Covid-19, the UC will also experience a new normal during this school period. In this sense, Dr. C. Alicia Rodríguez Gregorich, Vice-Rector of Training at UC, explained some of the main peculiarities of this opening of the center and how it has been prepared to comply with health measures and social and physical isolation .
“Our students must join the student residence on August 31, 2020 to start classes the next day. Said entry of the students will be carried out in a staggered manner and in each of the three venues on September 1 an act will take place to explain the conditions under which the different academic courses will be developed ”, said Rodríguez Gregorich.
"The Faculty of Physical Culture will have all its students from the first to third year incorporated from the initial day of classes to develop the day course from Monday to Thursday and on Friday the Course By Meeting will do it. For their part, at the “José Martí” and “Ignacio Agramonte” headquarters, the faculties will receive students in a staggered manner, taking into account the characteristics of the teaching process of each of the careers and compliance with the distance measures in classrooms and student residences ”.
-What will be some of the hygienic-sanitary requirements that both teachers and students must meet?
-In the classrooms, dining rooms and buildings of the scholarship, everyone will have the obligation to use the nasobuco correctly, they must maintain constant hand washing, comply with the cleaning of surfaces and respect social and physical isolation.
“We will provide educational talks to explain prevention measures and raise the perception of risk in favor of avoiding possible infections or a re-outbreak of the pandemic in our institution. In addition, recreational activities that do not involve crowding of people and the performance of festive activities will be promoted, so that the boys spend more time concentrating on studying and successfully complete the course. "
-How has the faculty been prepared and what will be the work priorities for the end of the 2019-2020 academic year?
-During the months of confrontation with Covid-19, the teachers worked on the readjustment of their study programs in all modalities, anticipating that this restart focuses on the essentialities of the content and that students receive the base curriculum and while as Independent study will be those activities of the own, optional and elective curricula.
"Exactly, in a space of ten to eleven weeks, the contents that had not been taught since March 24, in March 13 will arrive the final exams of the subjects that conclude with this type of exercise and also the partial exams or of the rest of the subjects. "
"Another priority will be that in the first 15 days of September around 170 young people will complete their study culmination exercise in which they will defend the final work of the degree, they will receive the title on the 17th of this month when the University of Camagüey made their last graduation of the 2019-2020 academic year and they will immediately begin their working life. "
As the largest cultural center in the province of Agramontina, as one of the institutions in which its teachers and students go beyond their classrooms to contribute to the development of Camagüey society, its teachers will continue preparing twelve-grade students for the tests of entry to Higher Education; and the students of the Pedagogical Contingent "Leonela Relys Díaz" will continue with their classes in primary and secondary schools in the municipality.
With particularities, strict sanitary measures, with a new normality, this house of higher studies will not cease to continue training competent professionals committed to the Revolution, who then join the workforce in all sectors of the country and help the socioeconomic development of the nation.
